Empty rooms

I was feeling all sorts of overwhelmed. Tired, and just bombarded. I could feel calmness slipping through my fingertips like sand and I knew I had to fix it, fast. I found a quiet room and I meditated. Not for long, just 20 minutes. I haven’t in three days. Travelling and the lack of personal space…as I shut the door to the empty room behind me, I felt instantly better.

I heard the conversations that had hooked me from earlier. I remembered the things I told myself not to forget. And I let it all fade, into the background like white noise secondary to my breaths.

The whole of me now lighter for having took the time to be still.
